JGL enters Indonesian market

The pharmaceutical company JGL d.d. from Rijeka entered anotherglobal market, this time in Indonesia. It took a year and a half from signing the partnership agreement to the export of products to the market, and the process included the preparation of registration documentation, adjustment of packaging in the local language, registration verification by the partner, application to competent authorities and the registration process itself. The registration process was concluded in February, the first delivery was made in July, and the most international company brand - Aqua Maris - was launched on the Indonesian market in August 2014.

After signing the agreement with its partner,PT SOHO Industri Pharmasi, a respectable pharmaceutical company operating since 1946, which currently holds the second place in the OTC/OTx segment with 7.6 percent market share and 13.3 percent annual growth, JGL believes this is anexcellent starting point which gives Aqua Maris the opportunity to become a recognizable brand in the segmentof seawater-based saline solutions for nasal care on this market as well.

The main objectives of JGL in collaboration with its partner are to introduce the benefits of using seawater for health purposes to the Indonesian expert and general public, to encourage the habit of its use, and to ensure the availability and high-quality product positioning for Aqua Maris in pharmacies located in Indonesian urban areas.

JGL delivered a large quantity of Aqua Maris productsto Indonesia, 40,000 items, however, due to an increased demand, another 55,000 products were delivered. Indonesian customers will have several products of this renowned Croatian brand at their disposal, such as Aqua Maris 30 ml, Aqua Maris baby, Aqua Maris strong. The partner has already shown interest in other brands from the JGL portfolio, andfurther expansion with innovative products from the Aqua Maris line, primarily theophthalmologic group of products.

Extensive and fast-growing market with the population of 250 million represents a great potential, while economic forecasts suggest Indonesia will be the tenth strongest economy in the world by 2020.Due to overpopulation, air pollution and increase of respiratory tract diseases, there is a prediction of long-term prospects of the Aqua Maris line. Since its partner,PT SOHO Industri Pharmasi,also successfully operates on markets outside Indonesia,JGL is considering the possibility of extending their cooperation to the rest of the ASEAN region.
