Tomorrow's opening ceremony of the Pharma Valley complex will mark the end of the first stage of JGL's biggest investment that will greatly affect the future of the company's business. The project has two key goals - to secure the preconditions and capacities in development, production and storage for the realisation of the company's long-term growth plans, and to bring all production and technological locations in one place. The investment comprises both locations of the company - the existing location Svilno 1 with production facilities, laboratories, packaging storage facility, and supporting facilities covering 13,800 square metres, and the new location Svilno 2 covering 79,000 square metres.
JGL's new investment triples its capacities to a total of 104 million pieces of product units, and significantly raises the company's technological standard important for global competitiveness. It also creates the preconditions for further improvement of the position of JGL's key brands on the global health market, and places the company among the leading producers of sterile pharmaceutical forms - drops, sprays and aerosols - in the European Union.
One of its innovations is the fully automated, robotised high-rack storage facility, where the presence of people is not required, and with over 5,000 pallet places. Another novelty is the transition from batch production to continuous production, which enables great flexibility and significantly reduces investments into equipment and space. There is also the newest technology in aerosol production, the so-called BoV (Bag-on-Valve) technology, which is increasingly used around the world in systems of medical devices applied as sprays.
The total value of the investment is HRK 361 million. Most of the funds were secured through the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (CBRD), then through financial leasing, and through the company's funds. The credit for the modern industrial building belongs to the architects Igor Rožić (studio Rožić arhitekti d.o.o. Rijeka) and Davor Katušić (Katušić Kocbek arhitekti d.o.o. Zagreb), and serves as a kind of homage to Rijeka's industrial heritage.
