Ljekarna Pablo Delnice Marks 150 Years of Continuous Service

Ljekarna Pablo in Delnice is proudly celebrating 150 years of continuous operation, making it one of the longest-standing pharmacy institutions in Croatia. To mark the occasion, on 1 July 2025 a commemorative plaque was unveiled in front of the pharmacy at Supilova 45 in a ceremony that gathered citizens, partners, and local community representatives.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Sanja Mihanović, Director of the "Ljekarna Pablo" Health Institution, and Eva Usmiani Capobianco, President of the Board of Directors at JGL – the owner of the Pablo pharmacy network, which today includes more than 30 branches across Croatia.

"Ljekarna Pablo in Delnice is a symbol of continuity, dedication, and trust that has endured for 150 years. As owners of the “Ljekarne Pablo” Health Institution, we are proud to be part of such a remarkable tradition and to continue investing in a sector that plays an essential role in public health. At JGL, we deeply value heritage, and milestones like this show that history and the future can go hand in hand." highlighted Usmiani Capobianco.

Originally opened in 1875, the Delnice pharmacy has long served as a key point of care for the residents of Gorski Kotar. Today’s Ljekarna Pablo, now part of a larger healthcare institution, proudly upholds its rich legacy while embracing the latest trends in pharmacy and healthcare.

"This anniversary is more than just a number – it reflects the enduring commitment of the pharmacy profession to the health and well-being of the local community. “Our institution is now part of this remarkable legacy, which is both an  honour and a responsibility. As we mark this milestone, we also look ahead, committed to deepening our collaboration and continuing to care for our community – just as we do every day." said Sanja Mihanović. To mark the occasion, a public health campaign was held, offering free health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and eye pressure measurements to local residents.

The event also featured a historical overview of the pharmacy’s evolution presented by Marin Pintur, Director of the JGL Pharmacy Museum. Guests were addressed by the Mayor of Delnice, Igor Pleše, and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque was led by pharmacists Jasna Jakupak and Jadranka Pojer Ivančić.
