Team initiative by JGL to reduce impact on the environment

An interesting discussion was held in late March at the Zagreb Journalist House (Novinarski dom) on the topic of "Green Energy Trade as a Mechanism to Promote RES Creation", organised by the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development (HRPSOR). During the introductory part, numerous participants, experts and practitioners addressed the topics of importance of RES promotion and methodology used to identify the origin of electricity, while also presenting their experience with certificates and development perspectives for the Guarantee of Origin system for electricity.

Many examples of good practice in economy serve as proof that the possession of green certificates is usually part of larger responsibility policies and tendency towards business sustainability. Following the introductory presentations, a round table was held, moderated by Mirjana Matešić, Director of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development, and attended, among others, by Dalibor Starčević, Technical Support Manager at JGL. Starčević took this opportunity to describe the most important actions taken by JGL to minimise its impact on the environment, placing special emphasis on the current initiative "Turn Green this Month", implemented at JGL in the context of introducing the ISO 50001 system.

In order to involve all employees into the process of continuous improvement of its energy management system, JGL is dedicating April to focus its promotional efforts on the effective use of electricity. By encouraging and developing activities, positive stances, values and conduct pertaining to the environment and its protection, JGL is hoping to contribute to raising general awareness of the need to preserve the environment and nature in all forms of economic and social action.
