JGL provides major support in preserving natural marine resources

As the International Coastal Cleanup Day, 19 September is the day for us to take at least a moment to reflect on how much the sea means to us and whether we are giving back at least a fraction of the things we take from it.

Wanting to contribute to the awareness of preservation of natural resources, particularly the sea, employees of the pharmaceutical company JGL d.d. from Rijeka participated in a major initiative organised by 24sata that was conducted in the Voz bay on the island of Krk. A total of 85 volunteers and activists of the local community took part in the initiative. One group consisted of divers tasked with cleaning the bay water area, while the other group cleaned the beach and provided ground support. During the three-hour initiative, about 80m3 of various waste types was collected.

Environmental protection and preservation of natural resources rank high on JGL's value scale, which is reflected in the way JGL supports these values not only in words, but also through everyday activities.

"We base our operations on the principles of sustainable development, which includes economical growth while maintaining ecological balance and social progress. We strive to be a reliable and responsible member of the community we live and work in; we believe that good business practice also means good deeds.

We place special emphasis on the preservation of the Adriatic Sea, our most significant natural resource, which has inspired and been used as raw material for making a number of preventive and curative preparations, primarily for respiratory tract ailments. Our methods and procedures are inherited from our ancestors, and we uphold the tradition of thalassotherapy, which has gained us recognition from all over the world.

Through numerous environment-friendly projects and initiatives, we strive to promote awareness of the importance of preserving the purity of our sea and, at the same time, of the diverse underwater flora and fauna and the great many health benefits the sea provides us with. As a result, we support the "Sea is Alive" project, the long-term national project of educating children on the preservation and protection of the underwater world, and through our Aqua Maris product range, we support the activities of the "Sredozemna medvjedica" group, which is committed to research and protection of nature. We also organise traditional eco-friendly initiatives, in which our employees also take part.
