From Rijeka to the World – The First 35 Years: JGL Exhibition Opens

The exhibition “From Rijeka to the World – The First 35 Years” has opened at SRCE, the event space at the V.B.Z. bookshop on Korzo, marking JGL’s milestone anniversary. The exhibition tells the story of a pharmaceutical company that began its journey in Rijeka in 1991 and, over three and a half decades, grew into a global company whose products are available in more than 60 markets – while remaining closely connected to the city where it was founded.

Across seven thematic sections, visitors can explore the key milestones in JGL’s history – from its modest beginnings in Rijeka’s Pulac neighbourhood to the modern Pharma Valley complex in Svilno. The exhibition also reveals how internationally recognised brands such as Aqua Maris were created and how investment in research, development and new technologies has shaped the company’s growth.

Special attention is given to the people who built the company and to JGL’s ties with Rijeka, reflected in job creation, the development of professional expertise, collaboration with the academic community and support for numerous projects contributing to the city’s development and its residents’ quality of life. The exhibition also offers a glimpse into Rijeka’s recent economic and social history, highlighting the mark JGL has made over the past 35 years on the city where it was founded and where its headquarters remain today.

“From Rijeka to the World – The First 35 Years” is open until 7 November 2026 at SRCE, the event space at the V.B.Z. bookshop, at Korzo 9 in Rijeka. Opening hours are 8 am to 9 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays. Admission is free, and a guided tour of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, 3 November at 11 am, with no advance registration required.

As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, JGL will hold a public health initiative, “Trust Your Eyes”, at the exhibition venue on Friday, 30 October. The initiative will offer all interested visitors free eye pressure measurements and dry eye testing. No advance registration is required to take part in this programme, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of eye health and the timely detection of potential problems. Visitors can have their eyes tested from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.
